A 9-year-old red and white female Basset Hound, not spayed, was admitted to the Veterinary Hospital for Small Animals at the Facultad de Medicina Veterinaria y Zootecnia of the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (FMVZ-UAT) due to a lump in the left groin area. The patient had been adopted two years earlier and used for breeding purposes, with a history of three previous pregnancies and a recent mating that occurred a month and a half before the consultation. She had not been vaccinated or dewormed. The guardian reported the presence of an initial stretch mark-like alteration in the left inguinal region for more than a year, with progressive growth. Physical examination identified soft, painless, and non-reducible tissue in the inguinal region with a palpable hernial ring. Ultrasound confirmed the presence of a gestational sac with corresponding embryonic tissue and a heartbeat within the inguinal hernia, so monitoring was recommended. Subsequently, a cesarean section was performed, resulting in the delivery of seven puppies, including the one in the hernia. The patient was discharged with postoperative instructions and no further clinical follow-up.
