Editorial Board
The editorial board of the journal Ciencias Veterinarias y Producción Animal consists of the editor-in-chief and the section editors. They are researchers of recognized prestige at the national and international levels, with extensive experience in their respective fields of expertise.
This board is composed primarily of researchers from outside the institution, which ensures objectivity and impartiality in the editorial processes.
The editor-in-chief is appointed by the relevant academic authorities and must be a researcher with a solid academic track record, national and international connections, and proven experience in scientific publishing, peer review, and editing. His or her duties include coordinating editorial activities, overseeing the quality of published content, and making final decisions on the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts, with the support of the section editors and the journal’s administrative staff.
Section editors, for their part, perform their duties on a voluntary and independent basis, which allows them to exercise their judgment with autonomy and academic rigor. Their primary responsibility is to review manuscripts received in their area of expertise, assess their relevance, manage the peer-review process, and approve the selection of qualified external reviewers. In cases of split decisions or disputes between reviewers and authors, subject area editors may act as a third reviewer at the request of the editor-in-chief, in order to ensure objective and well-founded resolutions. The editorial board, as a whole, ensures scientific quality, transparency, and ethics at all stages of the editorial process, promoting the dissemination of knowledge in the fields of veterinary science and animal production.
Main responsibilities of the Publications Council
The Publications Council of the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas is the collegiate body responsible for establishing, within the framework of applicable general provisions, the policies and guidelines for the registration, dissemination, promotion, storage, distribution, marketing, exchange, and donation of university publications, as well as for the enforcement of copyright and monitoring compliance.
This council is composed of the Rector, who serves as chair; the Secretary of Research and Graduate Studies, who assumes the chairmanship in the Rector’s absence; the Secretary of Finance, the Secretary of Administration, the Academic Secretary, and the Chair of the Editorial Board, who acts as technical secretary; as well as two academic representatives appointed by the University Assembly upon the Rector’s recommendation. All council members have the right to speak and vote, and the chair also has the casting vote.
The council has a Technical Editorial and Publications Coordination unit, which reports to the Technical Secretary. Its main function is to carry out technical editorial work to ensure the quality of the works published by the UAT, as well as to manage the storage, dissemination, distribution, marketing, and sale of university publications.
In the specific case of the journal Ciencias Veterinarias y Producción Animal, this structure ensures that editorial policies align with institutional guidelines, promoting transparency, academic quality, and access to knowledge, while protecting copyright and fostering ties with the productive and social sectors.
